Devil
As bad as it sounds, the Devil card indicates toxic, manipulative relationships riddled with addiction, lies, infidelity, and sadness. It can also indicate a partner who enables self-destructive tendencies.
The unfavorable Devil card represents a true longing for partnership but ultimately settling for someone due to insecurities or believing they’re the best you can get. Another meaning that is less common, is a relationship where you are physically and passionately attracted to someone but the relationship contains no substance beyond the physical attraction.
On a less intense note, the Devil is a sign of restriction–where you don’t feel safe or comfortable enough to be your authentic self in a relationship. This can be an internalized problem or the result of the person you’re with. Opposite’s attract might work for some, but it’s a better bet for you to go for a person with shared interests, values, and beliefs.
Detachment is another theme presented in the Devil card. This can manifest as a relationship that feels cold. They don’t speak your love language, or you both struggle expressing yourselves. An uncomfortable cloud lingers between you two, causing confusion and mystery. Similarly, a relationship without a label or where one wants to commit but the other avoids it is a painful mismatch for you to beware of.
The Devil card invites you to raise your standard of relationships. Even if you didn’t grow up with the best examples or have the best experiences with love, it doesn’t change the fact that you still deserve and are worthy of a stable, consistent, healthy relationship and a partner who treats you with respect and kindness.
Understand your tendencies to overlook things, and pay more attention to red flags. Don’t leave let them go unnoticed just because toxic behaviors are familiar to you. People will only treat you how you let them, and if after fair warning someone doesn’t do better, know how important it is for your happiness to walk away. It is better to be alone than to be in a relationship where you are not honored, adored, and protected.
Fortunately, you won’t have to be alone for much longer. Your soulmate will be revealed to you sooner than you realize.
